Root Canal Treatment
Nashua Dental Group offers patients relief from infected tooth pulp using root canal therapy. A tooth’s pulp, or the tissue underneath the hard enamel exterior, can become infected when bacteria is introduced through a cavity or a chip in the enamel. When this happens, you’ll experience sensitivity and tenderness of the tooth that can be incredibly uncomfortable. Historically, the only way to fix infected pulp was to remove the offending tooth, but now technology allows for us to only remove infected pulp easily and quickly via root canal therapy (also called “pulpectomy”).
To determine whether root canal therapy is right for you, one of our dentists will first take an x-ray of your tooth in order to look at the infected tooth. At a follow-up appointment, your dentist will numb the area, remove the infected pulp, and seal the rest of the tooth in order to prevent bacteria from further entering the tooth. This filling will look and feel entirely natural, matching the shape and color of the tooth.
While root canal therapy has something of a reputation for being painful, this is actually not the case. The pain in the tooth is a result of the infected pulp, not the procedure itself. Additionally, root canal therapy prevents the complications and extra procedures that removal of the tooth can cause, which in turn saves you time and money. If you are looking for a dentist in Nashua to do your root canal, or if you have any questions about the procedure, don’t hesitate to contact us.
